In this high-flying episode of Mac Geek Gab, Pilot Pete and Dave Hamilton unleash a treasure trove of quick Mac tips and tricks. They kick things off by zooming through system settings, with Pilot Pete navigating users on a shortcut to access them with the Option key. Not stopping there, the duo dive into accessibility customization, chat about the iPhone’s app icon wiggle-speed, and unleash the power of Siri on Macs – who knew typing to Siri could be so handy? But wait, “Don’t Get Caught” unprepared, as they segue into the savvy world of phone insurance, exploring self-insurance and credit card backup plans.

The action doesn’t stop as they turn the Wi-Fi up to 11, discussing network upgrades, optimizing power levels, and channel selection. A hiccup with Time Machine backups on Synology NAS is thwarted with potential fixes. Phone in hand, they then globe-trot into mobile carriers and eSIMs, perfect for those Alaskan escapades. On the final descent, they spotlight the podcast-perfect Mackie DLZ Creator mixer, and before the landing gear comes down, they share gratitude for the community, plug Pilot Pete’s aviation-centric podcast “So There I Was”, and give a shoutout to Mac Stock. Strap in, because this episode takes you on a roller-coaster ride of Mac wisdom.
